Nigerian dance queen, Kafayat Shafau-Ameh aka Kaffy has hit one million followers on her Instagram platform.

Kaffy who is the first Nigerian dancer to achieve this feat also took time to reflect on her career journey.

The mother of two, is also the first Nigerian dancer to bag an international endorsement and also break the Guinness world record for longest dance party.

In 2006, Kaffy led her dance group to break the Guinness Book of Record for “Longest Dance Party” after they danced for 55hours and 40minutes.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that she is credited with revamping the dance industry in Nigeria and promoting African dances globally.

In a series of posts made on Tuesday, Kaffy thanked her fans for sticking with her through the journey and also listed her biggest career achievements since she started in 2002.

The posts on her Instagram page @kaffydance read, “Thank you everyone. Just the thought of a million of you out there that appreciate me is awesome. God bless you all once again.”

She also sent special appreciation messages to Peter and Paul Okoye of the defunct Psquare group whom she has worked with on dance projects over the years.

Kaffy wrote, “I love you. I love you. I love you @peterpsquare and @rudeboypsquare. Dedicated to all those who supported me through these years even when there was no Instagram.

“2005 was a remarkable year in my life. It was the year I knew for sure that dance was not a mistake.

“A year I challenged my ability to lead with faith and determination. Alongside 29 other young Nigerians, we put a stamp on the idea that anything can make you great.

“You must be ready to jump. Don’t hesitate, just do it. Special thanks to all of you who were there to participate and those who watched from home and rooted. God bless you all,” she said.

NAN reports that Kaffy is currently a dance instructor who has developed innovative visualisation-based methods for teaching dance and dance fitness in an accelerated-learning format.

Kaffy bagged the ‘Best Female Dancer’ award at the 2014 African Muzik Magazine Awards; ‘Best Choreographer of the Year’ at the 2015 The Beatz Award and in 2018 was giving a special recognition Headies award. (NAN)
