Jamaican dancehall artist Spice has publicly disagreed with fellow Jamaican artist Buju Banton’s negative comments about Afrobeats music. Buju Banton had called Afrobeats “f*ckery” and claimed it lacks substance, accusing artists of stealing from Jamaican reggae and dancehall without crediting their sources.

In an interview with Daddy Freeze, Spice defended Afrobeats, stating it’s not “f*ckery” and highlighting artists like Burna Boy, 2Face, and Falz who create conscious music addressing societal issues. She acknowledged Afrobeats’ global popularity and emphasized the diversity of artists within the genre.
