Information just filtering in has it that the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), has landed in Kaduna to assess the situation of things, after a clash between the Nigeria Army and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria left many dead and scores injured in Zaria over the weekend.
Dambazau, we learnt, is on a fact-finding mission, and had a brief stop-over at the Government House, Kaduna, to see Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
He is expected to proceed to Zaria where the ugly incident took place.
Recall that an Army statement on Monday confirmed that the leader of the Shiite group, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, his wife and son, were in their custody.
It has also been reliably gathered that there is palpable tension in Zaria and other parts of Kaduna as members of the Shiite group have taken to the streets to protest the detention of their leader, El-Zakzaky, and his family by the Nigerian Army.
