The Czech Republic Prime Minister, Bohuslav Sobotka, has in clear terms kicked against a strong Muslim community as he warned that the government did not want a larger Muslim presence in the country.
The PM made this known on Tuesday while in Prague adding that the country shared the German desire to reduce influx of refugees from the Middle East.
Bohuslav Sobotka said: “We have no strong Muslim community here, and to be honest, we do not want a strong Muslim community to become established here.”
The Czech Republic Prime Minister further reiterated the commitment of the country along with fellow Visegrad states, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia against the permanent refugee quota system for European countries as advocated by Merkel.
Defending his country and fellow Visegrad states, Bohuslav Sobotka posited that the choice should be left for the national governments to decide.
“The bottom line is that it is national governments which must guarantee the safety of their citizens”.
