The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has described the Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVR), which ended Friday, Aug. 31 as impressive and successful.

Mrs Ndidi Okafor, Head of Voters Education, FCT INEC, told newsmen in Abuja on Monday, that though the exercise has ended in the Territory, the collection of Personal Voter Cards (PVCs) is still ongoing.

She said that compilation of those that participated in the Federal Capital Territory is still ongoing, and the details would soon be released.

While attributing the success recorded by the Commission to aggressive awareness campaign, Okafor, called on residents of the Territory to pick up their PVCs at designated centres

She said that only the PVCs would enable them exercise their franchise in the forthcoming general elections.

“I cannot give you figures of those that participated in the ongoing continuous voters registration except that of July figure, which is already in the public domain.

“I can tell you categorically that the exercise was impressive in the Federal Capital Territory. The PVCs is not a meal ticket, but for people to exercise their franchise.

“I can also tell you that the Commission is still at the process of compilation of those, who participated because the figures keep increasing on daily basis.

“The FCT Commissioner will meet with all stakeholders before announcing the authentic figure of those who participated in election in the Territory by next week.

“We are calling on residents to come and collect their Personal Voter Cards to enable them cast their ballots in 2019 general elections,” Okafor said. (NAN)
