The Nigeria Customs Service, Murtala Muhammed Airport Command, has recorded an impressive revenue of N74,286,707,443.01 from January to October 2023.

The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Sanni Yusuf, disclosed this during a media briefing on Wednesday.

Highlighting the command’s activities during this period, the comptroller revealed that “the revenue collected exhibits a significant increase of N14,230,581,619.72, marking a 23% surge compared to the same period in 2022, where the revenue was N60,056,125,823.29”.

Comptroller Yusuf emphasised that the command has achieved 76.34% of its annual target, crediting this success to the officers’ dedication to compliance with import/export guidelines and existing laws.

In addressing anti-smuggling efforts, Comptroller Yusuf reported the interception of unregistered pharmaceutical products, suspected to be tramadol tablets, exceeding the approved threshold set by the Federal Government.

He disclosed that the Duty Paid Value (DPV) of the intercepted items stands at N3,556,802,942.18.

Regarding stakeholder engagement, the the comptroller commended the command’s open-door policy, resolving various issues with concerned stakeholders.

He expressed gratitude to critical stakeholders and sister agencies for collaborative efforts, extending appreciation to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for fostering an enabling environment through recent renovations for the command’s officers and men.
