CSR Watch: Students express mixed emotions as Camp GTBank comes to a close

GTBank CEO, Mr. Segun Agbaje

Participants at the Camp GTBank at the International Institute Tropical Agriculture, (IITA) recently concluded have hailed GtBank for its effort at reviving the Principals’ Cup in both Lagos and Ibadan.

Forty outstanding players who took part in the GTB-sponsored Principal’s Cup in Lagos and Ogun states and also the Heritage Cup were selected for the Camp GTB, which is a yearly football development programme, was aimed at developing young talents.

According to the students, it was as if the camp should last forever. “We had nice time together. There was enough food to eat and we made friends. We will go back home with wonderful memories of the Camp GTBank,” the students said in unison.

One of the parents, Ugochukwu Iloka, whose son is a goalkeeper, said he was pleased with the atmosphere of the camp and hoped GTbank would not relent in its effort at discovering talents for Nigeria football.

“I can see that the students are really enjoying themselves and training well. The presence of former internationals like Samson Siasia, Waidi Akani, Yisa Sofoluwe and Ann Chiejina really inspired the students,” Iloka said.

Camp GTB is a residential camp designed to train and develop upcoming football talents that emerged from the GTB-sponsored youth football leagues.
