Cristiano Ronaldo once again proved why he is considered as one of the best players to ever play the game.
The Portuguese captain led his team against a strong Spanish team that even without their coach still boasted some of the best players on the planet.
Ronaldo scored the first goal from the spot after he was brought down by Real Madrid team mate Nacho. Ronaldo dispatched of the Penalty.
Portugal were on top, looking dangerous on the break, but Spain were not to be kept down as they equalised through Diego Costa. The Atletico Madrid striker showed good strength to hold off Pepe, turn Jose Fonte, before smashing it past Rui Patricio.
The game was thrilling and end-to-end, but not for too long as just before the first half whistle Ronaldo scored again, but it was a howler by Spain’s keeper, Manchester United’s David De Gea. After Ronaldo received the ball just at the D, he smashed a left-footed shot which De Gea should have done better with but he fumbled it and it went in.
Spain started the brighter of the two teams in the second half and soon they were level again. It was a set-piece chance. The ball was floated in and Pique headed it across goal for Diego Costa to bundle home for his second of the game.
Spain scored a screamer after defender Nacho caught the ball on a half-volley outside the box beating Rio Patricio and hitting the bar on its way in.
Spain were ahead and were keen to keep it that that way. They passed the ball around neatly and the plan was to hold on to possession.
But it was not to be.
Ronaldo won a free-kick at the edge of the box. He then proceeded to curl it over the wall and into the net to complete his hat-trick.
The game ended 3-3 with both teams deserving of the point and are now gearing for their next game.
