The Director, New Media of APC Presidential Campaign Council, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has said that a criminal investigation has been launched into the purported housing allowance running into millions of naira returned by some members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Fani-Kayode made the disclosure in a Facebook post on Saturday.
The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba in a Thursday statement confirmed the payment of the housing allowance to some NWC members.
He said that the payment was not a bribe to the members as speculated in some quarters.
The statement came as four members of the NWC returned over N120 million to the party’s coffers.
The members are the National Vice Chairman (South-West) Olasoji Adagunodo, the Deputy National Chairman (South) Taofeek Arapaja; the National Vice Chairman (South), Dan Orbih, and the National Women Leader, Stella Affah-Attoe.
Reacting, Fani-Kayode said that the wanton sharing of party funds as witnessed in the PDP was unprecedented in the country.
He said that a criminal investigation has been launched to get to the bottom of the matter.
“Never have we seen party officials sharing money amongst one another like Father Christmas as the leadership of the PDP has just done.
“I advise those on their NWC that have not done so already to return the money they collected because I can confirm that a criminal investigation has already begun,” Fani-Kayode said.
