Create New Emirate For Sanusi in Kaduna – APC Kano Mocks el-Rufai

2 Min Read

The Kano State Chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has asked the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai to create a new emirate for former Emir Sanusi II in Kaduna State since he has decided to treat the former Emir like a hero.

This comes after el-Rufai appointed Sanusi as vice chairman of the board of the Kaduna State investment agency hours after he was dethroned as Emir.

A few days later, el-Rufai also appointed Sanusi as the Chancellor of the Kaduna State University to the dismay of the APC in Kano.

Governor el-Rufai’s visit to Sanusi in Awe, Nasarawa State where he was banished, further enraged the APC in Kano who thereafter released a statement asking the governor to create a new Emirate for the deposed Emir in Kaduna.

The statement which was signed by the deputy chairman of APC Kano Chapter, Alhaji Shehu Maigari read;
“Your Excellency, Governor Nasir el-Rufai, this is somebody who worked against the success of APC, your dear party, coming out openly to criticise your mentor (Mr. President) with no concrete reasons or justifications but yet you have decided to treat him like a hero.

“Sir, APC Kano Chapter is strongly advising you to create additional emirate in your state like New Kaduna Emirate Council, probably to start from Rigachikun to Kasuwar Magani and install your hero there, so that he can work effectively for his dear party (PDP) over there, instead of giving him those ceremonial positions.”

Former Emir Sanusi says he has accepted his Dethronement in good faith and will not be challenging the decision in court.
