The presidency has spoken up about the alleged cold war between National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, and the Director General of the State Security Services (SSS) Lawal Daura.
A top source within the Presidency debunked the rumours, adding that both Monguno and Daura are loyal and committed to the security of the country.
According to him, all the security chiefs need is encouragement and approval in the fight against the terrorists, Today.ng reports.
He said: “The talk about division and fight among security chiefs is uncalled for at this time that Nigeria has decimated insurgency and organised crimes.
“As it is today, the NSA always holds the regular meetings with all the security chiefs or their representatives in attendance.
“There is no discord in the nation’s intelligence community and there will never be. Anyone alleging that is only concocting something imaginary.”
Reports recently surfaced about an alleged cold war between the two security chiefs which began last August when the president directed Monguno to establish a committee to investigate military purchase from 2007 to 2015.
It was expected that State Security Services (SSS) was to be included in the committee, but Monguno reportedly snubbed the SSS.
It was reported that the strife had begun to have adverse effects on the nation’s security.
