Real Madrid maestro, Cristiano Ronaldo has been awarded this year’s European Golden Shoe after his exploits in the 2014/2015 Spanish La liga season where he netted 48 goals, the highest by any player in the top flight of European football.
The European Golden Shoe is awarded to the player who scores the most goals in a season in any top-flight league in Europe.
The Portugal international with this win became the first to win the award four times, having previously won the coveted individual award in the 2007/2008, 2010/2011 and 2013/2014 league seasons.
While receiving the award at the Westin Palace Hotel in Madrid, the 30-year-old expressed his appreciation to Real Madrid teammates without whom, he said, it would not have been possible to win it.
He is however not satisfied with just winning this latest award, stating that he would like to win it the fifth an if possible the sixth time.
“I am not satisfied, I want more. I’m the only one that has four but I want the fifth and the sixth.
“I want the Champions League, La Liga and the Copa del Rey,” he said.
Ronaldo noted that “Real Madrid are the biggest club in the world and we always have to win titles.
“But without my team-mates, I would not be able to win individual awards.”
