The Rivers State command of the Nigeria Police has insisted that it will not enforce the curfew declared by the State Governor, Nyesom Wike as a measure to curb COVID-19 in the state.
Nyesom Wike had declared a curfew on Port Harcourt and Obio Akpor to run from 8pm to 6am.
The Federal Government had however declared that curfews will run from 10pm to 4am as it relaxed COVID-19 lockdown measures across the country.

The Rivers police command speaking through its public relations officer, DSP Nnamdi Omoni however said it would follow the directives of the Federal Government instead of the State Government.
“Since both curfew times are meant to meet the same target, that of the Federal Government supersedes, in keeping with the constitutional provisions of the country,” he said.
He further advised members of the public to call police emergency phone lines if they suffer any harrasment as a result of the conflicting times.
