Isola, the Chief Imam of the Islamic Centre, Uwani, Enugu, gave the admonition while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Enugu.
NAN reports that Ramadan, which is the ninth month in the Islamic lunar calendar, is a period when all Muslims are expected to observe compulsory one-month fast.
The month, however, started on April 24, after the sighting of the moon, which was verified by the National Moon Sighting Committee.
He noted that “with multiple evidences so far, coronavirus is real’’ and causing havoc.
The cleric said that one could only get protected when he or she obeys and follow rules of self protection and avoid crowded gatherings and unnecessary human contacts as much as possible.
“Secondly, we must listen to government directives and follow it religiously.
“Muslim clerics had been complying with these directives and that is why all mosques and special Friday praying centres/Mosque had been shut for some weeks now,’’ he said.
Isola reminded Muslim Ummah to use the Ramadan to atone for sins, repent and pray fervently for Almighty Allah’s mercy over negative lifestyle of men.
He said: “Coronavirus pandemic is the anger of Almighty Allah over sins and sodomy on earth.
“Humans should stop engaging in evil and turn back to Allah to obtain His mercy and forgiveness as well as His divine and holistic healing over the virus,”.
