The Plateau Water Board has promised to ensure regular supply of water to residents during the period of the lockdown occasioned by COVID-19.
Mr Nangor Ndam, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the board gave the assurance in a statement on Tuesday in Jos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the state government had declared a total lockdown as part of measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
Ndam said the board had made adequate arrangement to supply portable water using tankers to areas where its treatment plants could not supply.
“In line with the government decision to lockdown the state as a measure to contain the spread of COVID-19, the management of water board wishes to assure its customers and the general public of adequate supply of potable water during the period.
“One basic protective measures against the spread of this dreaded virus is personal hygiene through regular hand washing in running water. The need for water at this time cannot be overemphasised
“The board in collaboration with other essential service providers have put measures to ensure an adequate supply of potable water to all areas.
“Areas where our treatment plants don’t exist, private water tankers will liaise with our officers at the treatment plants to supply water to residents,” he said.
The PRO called on members of the public to report any leakages and pipe burst within Jos, Bukuru metropolis and other parts of the state to the board for prompt repair to avoid wastage.
