Alhaji Shamsu Faruk-Kalgo, the Kalgo Local Government Council Chairman in Kebbi, has commended Gov. Atiku Bagudu for approving cash and food assistance to people of the local government.

He gave the commendation while distributing the cash to people in Kalgo on Saturday to cushion the effect of COVID-19.
Faruk-Kalgo, who did not disclose the total amount of money and beneficiaries, said each beneficiary would collect N10,000 cash.
He noted that the beneficiaries cut across different segment of the people of the state, irrespective of party affiliation.
“We have been directed to assist people irrespective of party line, no matter the party you come from.
“This is purely assistance to reduce your hardship, courtesy of Gov. Atiku Bagudu,” he said.
The chairman thanked the governor for the gesture and the opportunity he gave toward assisting people of the local government.
Faruk-Kalgo gave an assurance that justice would be done in the distribution of the cash.
“In order to ensure that the cash reaches the proper people, we set up a committee of not only the political class in Kalgo Local Government Area but also elders of the area,” he said.
The chairman called on the beneficiaries to continue to pray for their leaders at all times.
Hajiya Zara’u Wali, the Special Adviser to Gov. Bagudu on Women Development, explained that the benevolence of the governor was not only for Kalgo Local Government Area (LGA) but extended to all other 21 LGAs in the state.
She said that the assistance would in no small measure, support families to cushion the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to her, food grains have already been shared to different categories of people, including the vulnerable groups across all the 21 LGAs in the state.
Wali urged well-to-do people in the state to assist people by complementing the efforts of the state government in that direction.
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area, Alhaji Sani Musa, commended the state government for the gesture and the measures to contain the spread of coronavirus pandemic in the state.
