Receiving the items on behalf of the State Government in his office at the State Secretariat, Mr Jacob Ojekunle, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, thanked the  management and students of the Institution for the gesture.

Ojekunle said that the food items donated would be of immense benefits to many residents in the state.

He assured the institution and other donors that all items received would get to the right households and individuals, urging other institutions to emulate the good gesture by assisting the less privileged at this trying period.

The Provost of the College, Dr Rasak Adefabi, said the donation was its “widow’s mite” to support efforts of government in ensuring that the people of Oyo State did not pass through undue pain from the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic.

“We were moved to make the donation because of the kindheartedness of Gov. Seyi Makinde, especially toward the welfare of staff members of the state tertiary institutions, particularly our college.

“So we believe it is time to reciprocate the generosity.

“Secondly, we observed the seriousness of the state government in curtailing the spread of the virus in the state,” Adefabi said.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the food items donated included 505 packs of garri, 524 packs of yam flour and 73 hand sanitisers, all produced by the Oyo State-owned Institution.
