That Covenant University is a glorified secondary school is no longer a secret. However this is mostly due to the high handedness of lecturers and other members of staff who often make it a duty to pick on the students out of their own personal frustrations or vendetta. Occasionally some students err, but for the most part, lecturers who undergo the frustrations of the average Nigerian take the extraordinary powers they have over students too far. And students who are not expected to protest or complain have little chance to survive in the school environment unless they do as instructed.
The poor lad in this photo may be the baddest guy on campus, but if he refuses to kneel down, he may just witness his parent’s N500,000 school fees investment go down the drain and then the ASUU strike would be a welcome development in his life.
Covenant University has been known to suspend and/or expel students for missing chapel services, not trimming their beards, pairing (hanging out with members of the opposite sex), not genuflecting whilst greeting lecturers/staff and other absurd dictatorial like tendencies.
