The Edo state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has today upheld the election which saw the Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki into office.
The court which sat on Friday presided over by Justice Ahmed Badamosi dismissed the petition filed against the state governor by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its governorship candidate in the election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
The Court in its declaration noted that the petition against the state governor lacked merit and thus dismissed it adding that the reliance of the petitioner on the ticking of the name of a prospective voter on the left side of the voters’ register as part of steps to complete accreditation as set by the electoral body, INEC, was only an administrative guideline.
The election tribunal further noted that all the witnesses’ evidence only served to prove the credibility of the September 26, 2016 election in the state.
