A Federal High Court sitting in Kano, on Wednesday, sentenced a 20-year-old man, Suleiman Isa, to five year imprisonment for beign in possession of 16 kilogramme of cannabis sativa and other narcotic substances.

Isa was arraigned before the court by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), on a count charge of being in possession of cannabis sativa and other substances.
Delivering judgment, Justice Obiora Egwuatu, sentenced the convict to five-year in Correctional Centre without option of fine.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Aondover Yuanyam, had told the court that on April 20, the convict was found in possession of 16 kg of cannabis sativa, a narcotic drug similar to cocaine and Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD).
Yuanyam said that the offence contravened Section 11 (C) of the NDLEA Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
The convict, pleaded guilty to the charge.
Meanwhile, the court has convicted a 19-year-old man, Abuhuraira Sa’id to 18 months in Correctional Centre for possession of 1.2 kg of tramadol.
Sa’id was arraigned by the NDLEA for circulation tramadol.
The Prosecution counsel, Mr Aondover Yuanyam, told the court that on June 11, Sa’id was found in possession of 1.2 kg of tramadol, a narcotic substance similar to heroin and LSD.
Yuanyam said that the offence contravened Section 11 (b) of the NDLEA Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
The convict pleaded guilty to the charge
The presiding judge, Justice Obiora Egwuatu, therefore, sentenced the convict to 18 months in Correctional Centre without option of fine.
