Court Remands Dasuki In Kuje Prisons

The immediate past National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, and others who along with him facing charges of diversion of about N13bn ‎meant for procurement of arms have been granted bail by a Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama, Abuja on Monday. However, he has been remanded into the Kuje Prisons pending when he meets the bail conditions.

Justice Peter Affen, in a ruling, granted bail to Dasuki and others in the sum of N250m with two sureties in like sum.

One of the sureties that each of the accused persons must produce, will also have to tender title documents of N250m worth of property which the court ordered must be valued by a registered estate valuer.

Other accused, who the court granted bail along with Dasuki, are a former Director of Finance and Administration in the Office of the NSA, Shuaibu Salisu‎; a former Governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa, his son, Sagir Attahiru; a firm Dalhatu Investment and and a former Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda.

Among other conditions, the accused persons are expected to deposit their passport with the court.

The judge fixed February 2 and 3 for trial.

Justice Baba Yusuf of the same division of FCT High Court had on Friday granted bail in the sum of N250m with one surety to ‎the Dasuki, and others being prosecuted along with him on 19 counts of misappropriation of the money which part of funds meant for procurement of funds.

Other co-accused, who were also granted bail by Justice Baba in that case are, Salisu, a former Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Aminu Baba-Kusa and his two companies, Acacia Holdings Limited and Reliance Referral Hospital Limited.

Businessman and founder of Daar Communications, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, who ‎is also being prosecuted separately prosecuted with respect to the arms procurement scam before Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court in Abuja, attended the Monday’s proceedings in solidarity with Dasuki.
