The spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, had his trial over corruption adjourned over his ill health on Wednesday.
Mr. Metuh, who is charged along with his company, Destra Investment, appeared in court for the continuation of his trial, despite reports that he slumped at a meeting of his party and was rushed to the hospital yesterday.
Trial Judge, Okon Abang adjourned the corruption case against Mr. Metuh to May 17 and 18 after Mr. Metuh’s counsel made an application praying the court for an adjournment due to the fact that his client came from a hospital bed to honour the court date.
Mr. Metuh spoke to journalists saying that he defied doctors to make the court date and couldn’t wait to defend himself.
“If I am not here my bail conditions may be revoked and I don’t want that; but I have been here for three hours and we haven’t started. That’s why my lawyers asked for an adjournment,
“The doctor did not want to release me, but I insisted,
“No matter the condition I cannot wait to defend myself,”
