A British judge has ordered that a woman have her baby aborted after carrying the pregnancy for 22 weeks.
Nathalie Lieven, who gave the ruling, ignored the objections of the lady as well as her mother’s as she considered the lady to be unfit to have the baby on a number of grounds.
The pregnant lady is said to have developmental disabilities, meaning that although she is in her 20s, her mental age fits that of kids between the ages of 6 and 9.
Apart from this, she had been receiving care at a health facility through the UK National Health Service.
Following her ruling, the British judge mentioned that ordering the young lady to abort the child against her will was a form of “immense intrusion.”
She, however, told Fox News that she made the decision after considering what was best for the young lady.
According to Lieven, “I am acutely conscious of the fact that for the State to order a woman to have a termination where it appears that she doesn’t want it is an immense intrusion.
“I have to operate in [her] best interests, not on society’s views of termination.”
Lieven progressed by stating that the lady would not be able to provide proper care for the child and due to her psychological problems, the child may be at risk with her.
She equally mentioned that the baby may eventually end up in a motherless babies facility, adding that the disabled lady may experience higher trauma if the baby is taken away than if the pregnancy was terminated.
