The police charged Bolaji Olatunbosun, 40, and Ogunbayo Adedoyin, 35, with two counts of theft and receiving stolen items.
The prosecution counsel, Insp. Oriyomi Akinwale told the court that the accused and two others, now at large, committed the offence between December 2019 and Jan. 3,  between 4 p.m and 7 p.m at the MTN site, Sigman Hotel, Poly road in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that Adedoyin, stole the diesel valued at N700,000 property of MTN Nigeria Limited, while Olatunbosun bought the diesel, knowing full well that it was stolen.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 390 and 427 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor prayed for a short adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the counts when it was read to them.
Counsel to the first defendant, Mr Rotimi Adabembe and the second defendant, Mr Timi Omotosho, both urged the court to grant the defendants bail.
Chief Magistrate Adesoji Adegboye, in his ruling, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Feb. 28 for hearing.
