A Kano High Court on Friday adjourned the case on attempted murder on a Kano-based Chinese businessman, Mr Wuu Haiwang to May 22, for ruling on whether the statement made by the principal witness I to police was genuine or not.

The court also fixed May 22, for continuation of hearing on the attempted murder case.

Haiwang, who, narrowly escaped the murder attempt with serious injuries, was attacked on July 16, 2016 at his warehouse located at Railway Quarters in Kano metropolis.

NAN reports that when the case came up for hearing, the principal witness I, Mr Wuu Haiwang gave evidence before the Court, where he narrated what happened during the attack.

After giving the evidence, counsel for the accused, Mr M. L. Garba crossed-examined Haiwang after which he presented a photocopy of the statement made by the principal witness I, to the police.

He, however, rejected the document as not being genuine and certified by the Police, an argument rejected by the State Director of Public prosecution, Mr L. D. Sulaiman.

After listening to the heated argument from both sides, the presiding Judge, Justice Hadiza Sulaiman adjourned the case to May 22, for ruling on whether the Court would accept the photocopy of the statement of the principal witness I as a genuine and certified copy or not.

She also fixed May 22, for continuation of hearing on the case. (NAN)
