An Indonesian couple have been arrested over allegations that they killed a man, cut off his genitals and feasted on it because he allegedly raped the woman a week before her wedding, a police statement said on Tuesday.
The husband identified as Rudi Efendi, 30, was said to have become angry at his 20-year-old wife, when he discovered on their wedding night that she was not a virgin.
She then told him that she was raped a week before her wedding on the island of Sumatra by a bus driver.
Police told AFP that the bus driver was found dead in a burnt-out van late October, suspected to have been set ablaze while still inside the van by Efendi.
After his arrest, Efendi told reporters last month, “I was so outraged.”
Asked if he ate the alleged rapist’s genitals, he answered in the affirmative, claiming he did it “to cure my heartache”.
Police said Efendi killed the man, cut off his manhood, took it to his wife to cook, and they ate it together.
Police also confirmed that Efendi’s wife used to date the late bus driver.
Efendi is accused of carrying out the murder, while police believe his wife was an accomplice.
