The Lagos State House of Assembly has passed a vote of confidence on its speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa after he was cleared of corruption charges by an investigative ad-hoc committee of the House.
Obasa had been accused of spending N80 million on the wives of the lawmakers to take a trip to the United Arab Emirates, Dubai.
The committee headed by Hon. Victor Akande also investigated other allegations against the speaker including one that alleged he operated 64 bank accounts with different names.

Submitting it’s report, the committee said the allegations against Obasa were frivolous and unfounded. It stated that the speaker followed due process in his financial dealings on behalf of the House.
The committee subsequently submitted a recommendation that the clerk of the House, Azeez Sani should investigate the source of leakage of official documents in the assembly and punish the guilty party.
It also recommended the digitisation of the activities of the House for better record keeping purposes and monitoring.
