Ex-Chairman of the House of the Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin has said that he was not part of the budget padding which he implicated speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and that there is corruption in the House of Representatives.
He said this in an interview with Channels TV, “Well, I wasn’t part of the insertions but I think I also didn’t help myself because I started speaking quite late. The event that pushed me to start talking doesn’t look too attractive to people because they are saying why am I talking now that I have left the position”.
He also denied allegations of adding worth N4.1 bn for his constituency into the budget illegally.
“Absolutely false. My problem is that I wasn’t talking. I came into the National Assembly pretty young and psychologically, you are made to believe that when you are chairman of appropriation, you have to be secretive”he said.
Asked on corruption with the House of Reps, he said, “There is corruption in the house of Representatives. There is institutional corruption and these are things I can prove.”
