The senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Shehu Sani, has attacked the Executive Order by President Muhammadu Buhari authorising the seizure of assets believed to be proceed of corruption.
Buhari on Thursday signed Executive Order No 6 in his office to tackle the menace of corruption.
However, the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Anglican Church among others have expressed misgivings over the Executive Order.
While the PDP described it as illegal, unconstitutional, reprehensible and a dangerous step towards a descent to fascism, the church warned the Federal Government against using it to hound opposition figures.
Reacting to the Order via his Twitter handle on Monday morning, Sani said it must conform to the laws of the country.
The outspoken All Progressives Congress (APC) senator said, “Executive order is an instrument that should conform with the law, comply with the law & concur with the law OR else it becomes an autocratic & ruthless device for the inauguration of savagery, undermining democratic values, circumventing the rule of law & creating a gestapo state.”
