The annual corruption index has been released by the World Economic Forum. As part of its global competitive report, a survey was carried out and an interview was conducted for over 15,000 business leaders from 141 Economies from February to June.
Countries named as corrupt were judged by this analysis and questions :
- In your country, how do on rate the ethical standards of politicians?
- In your country, how common is illegal diversion of public funds to companies, individuals, or groups?
- In your country, how common is it for firm’s to make undocumented payments or bribes?
Numerical answers ranging from one to seven were given, with one indicating the most corruption and seven indicating the least. In this analysis, 1 is the most corrupt and 7 the least corrupt.

11. SLOVENIA :This country has a high rate of political diversion of public fund. In 2013, many Slovenians joined the commission for prevention of corruption, and took to the streets. A month after, the slovenian prime minister was ousted out of office and jailed after he was convicted by court.

10. POLAND: Since the fall of communism in 1989, corruption has increased significantly. While anticorruption efforts are having effects, there is concern and worry amongst the people.

9. REPUBLIC OF SOUTH KOREA : There is a widespread belief that south Korea is highly corrupt. The country has introduced a law prohibiting people from buying a meal worth more than 30,000 Korean won($27) for public officials, state, employee, journalists, and school teachers. Any violation of the law will amount to three years jail sentence.

8. LATVIA : There is a widespread concern that business and politics are too closely linked in Latvia.The country’s corruption prevention bureau is investigating the Bank of Latvia president over the irregularities of his income statement.

7. SPAIN: In this country, corruption is a major problem because it is usually carried out by government officials, and there is a concern on the issue of diverted public funds.

6. CZECH REPUBLIC: The Czech prime minister Petr Neca’s, who called himself “Mr Clean Hands”, was forced to resigning 2013 after a corruption scandal in which his chief of staff was accused of abusing state security apparatus to spy on three people including the first lady.

5. GREECE: In Greece, the major problem of corruption is the political leaders. Also ninety percent of the people in Greece believe that their politicians are corrupt.
