2 Min Read

Reports claim that a man in his 50s has become the first person in the United States to die of coronavirus infection.

Jamie Nixon, the state Health Department spokesperson, made this known on Saturday, February 29.

A statement by Governor Jay Inslee of Washington read: “Our hearts go out to his family and friends. We will continue to work toward a day where no one dies from this virus.”

The Herald gathered that the deadly disease has started spreading around the west coast as 67 people have tested positive in the US.

Earlier, The Herald reported that King Paul Akpan Udoh, an Italian-Nigerian professional footballer, has been described as first footballer to be diagnosed with the deadly coronavirus.

King Paul Akpan was a player in the Italian third division side with Pianese. He started his professional career at Reggiana before moving to Juventus youth team in the year 2011.

Meanwhile, nothing has been heard from his club about the reported incident concerning King Udoh who is said to have been quarantined.

In a related development, Juventus vs Inter Milan match earlier scheduled to hold this weekend has been postponed due to coronavirus outbreak.

The Herald gathered that Milan vs Genoa, Parma vs SPAL, Udinese vs Fiorentina and Sassuolo vs Brescia have also been called off and rescheduled for May.

Since its outbreak in China, coronavirus has killed many people in the world. Italy is the only country in Europe with highest number of reported cases of the disease with over seven people dead.
