The Kaduna State Government has debunked social media reports that Governor Nasir el-Rufai is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following coronavirus-related complications.
Chief of Staff to the Governor, Muhammad Sani Dattijo issued the rebuttal in a tweet on Monday, noting that el-Rufai has been working from the isolation centre.
Recall that the governor confirmed in a Saturday, March 28 video and statement he personally signed that he had tested positive for the virus.
Last week, the governor debunked rumour that he had recovered from the virus.
Over the weekend and early Monday morning, some social media users had bandied rumour of the governor’s worsened health condition, saying he had been moved to the ICU for emergency attention.
Posting a photo grabbed from a video call with the governor, Dattijo wrote: “Mallam Nasir el-Rufai at 2:06pm, Monday 20 April.
“Alive and Well. Working from isolation. To all the folks tweeting about him in ICU, you shall see it before he does insha’Allah”

In a tweet last week, el-Rufai wrote, “Earlier Wednesday 10am-2pm, I took a few hours during isolation to chair a virtual meeting of the State Executive Council.
“I haven’t been cleared of COVID-19 yet and (I) will personally announce when confirmed negative. Ignore all fake news even if you like it.”
