Convention Scribe: APC Appoints Ex-PDP Senator To Replace Okorocha’s Foe

1 Min Read

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Sen. Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN) as the new Secretary for its June 23 National Convention.

Ndoma-Egba replaces Sen. Benjamin Uwajumogu, who is having a run battle with Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha over control of the party machinery in the state. Uwajumogu is a member of Allied Force, an anti-Okorocha group within the Imo APC, whose other notable names include Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere, Sen. Ifeanyi Araraume and Sen. Osita Izunaso.

Although Uwajomogu had described his resignation as due to domestic commitments beyond his control” and to douse fraying nerves, rumours are rife that he was forced out to please Okorocha.

Addressing newsmen on Saturday, Uwajumogu had described Okorocha, who is the Chairman of APC governors, as a “massive basket of fraud”.

He also refuted allegations that he resigned due to financial misappropriation.

Meanwhile, the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, confirmed Ndoma-Egba’s appointment.

The 62-year-old Ndoma-Egba was the Majority Leader in the Senate under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) between 2011 and 2015.

President Muhammadu Buhari appointed him Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in 2016.
