The Umaisha/Ugya constituency in Nasarawa has commended the Speaker of that State’s House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, for sinking 10 boreholes.
Members of the constituency, who met on Sunday in Umaisha to assess his performance since he assumed office in 2015, also commended him for paying the WASSCE /NECO registration fees of 30 indigent students in the constituency.
Mr Yusuf Musa-Oma’aki, spokesman of the community, in a speech at the occasion, said that the Speaker had represented the area “credibly”.
He said that the constituency was ready to give the Speaker a second tenure in 2019, and urged him to re-contest so as to continue to offer quality representation.
Musa-Oma’aki, a former member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, said that the six electoral wards of the constituency decided to organise the programme to endorse the speaker for second term, and urged him to accept the offer.
“We want to use this occasion to urged the Speaker to heed the call of his people and re-contest in 2019 so as to consolidate on his numerous achievements.
He also commended the Speaker for offering scholarships to 50 students in various tertiary institutions, and for securing employment for more than 15 graduates in various federal agencies and parastatals.
“The Speaker has also distributed modern flying boats, 12 vehicles, many motorcycles and also constructed classroom blocks in various schools.
“He has also settled medical bills of more than 50 individuals and secured admission for more than 450 students in various institution of learning,” he added.
Musa-Oma’aki, member, Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic, Mubi also commended Balarabe-Abdullahi for promoting religious activities by paying Hajj fares for some members of the constituency.
Also speaking, Alhaji Mohammed Ohinoye-Musa, former Chairman, Toto Local Government, urged the Speaker to accept the offer to seek a second mandate.
“The constituents are happy with his performance and want him to continue to represent them; we shall try to convince him to accept the request to seek a fresh mandate in 2019,” he said.
