Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has charged newly-appointed special advisers and caretaker committee chairmen of local government areas in the state to see their appointment as a call to service.
Wike made this known on Friday at the swearing-in ceremony of the state’s officials at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
While Barr Harvey Ideozu, Hon. Chris Berewari and Mr. Ken Chinda were appointed as special advisers, Mr. Tampari Gbara and Mr. Dagogo Legg-Jack were inaugurated as Caretaker Committee Chairmen of Khana and Opobo/Nkoro LGAs respectively.
According to Wike, the era of impunity and abuse of office is over, as anyone caught dipping his hand into the till will be punished.
“Your appointment is a call to service and not an opportunity to make money. You should see this appointment as an opportunity to serve the state, not to serve yourselves.
“All my actions are aimed at improving the state. You should be loyal to this government as nobody influenced me to appoint you,” he noted.
He charged the Caretaker Committee Chairmen of Khana and Opobo/Nkoro LGAs to improve security and environmental sanitation in their areas.
