Congo coach Claude Le Roy promises Siasia a tougher 2nd leg

2 Min Read

Congolese coach Claude Le Roy has promised a tougher second leg after his team lost to Nigeria 2-1 at the Adokie Amesiamaka Stadium, Port Harcourt Rivers State.

The Nigeria U23 team dominated from start to finish but could only score just two goals and yet conceded one but former Super Eagles forward, Samson Siasia who is the Nigeria U23 team coach has admitted his team could have gotten more goals but he has since moved on and remained positive going into the second leg in a fortnight.

3SC goal machine, Ajayi Junior’s brace looked good until Congo’s Miose Nkoukou got a vital away goal.

Claude Le Roy who led the Congolese senior national team to defeat the Super Eagles in Calabar in an AFCON qualifier in 2013 admitted his team was lucky to have conceded just two goals but opined that the second leg will be much tougher.

“We were lucky to have lost by just 2-1, the Nigerian team we played today is better than the Ghana team we met earlier. It will be a tougher game for us in Brazzaville, “said Claude Le Roy

Coach Samson Siason who guided the Nigeria U23 team to a second place finish at the 2008 summer Olympics in 2008 reckoned the Nigerian team dominated but missed series of chances to score.

“We missed a lot of chances, we could have scored more goals but sincerely the boys played well. We shall work on the mistakes we have noticed before the second leg,” Siasia stated.
