Conference of Speakers expresses hope on release of remaining Chibok girls

2 Min Read

The Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria on Monday expressed hope that the remaining Chibok school girls would be released, following the release of 82 abducted school girls.

The Administrative Secretary to the Chairman, Conference of Speakers, Mr Busari Sarafadeen, said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

He said the release of the girls has further reawakened hope, saying it was no doubt a pointer to the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari was focused and determined to ensuring the release of more girls.

“ The new release of the girls has further reawakened hope that the remaining girls will soon regain their freedom and be reunited with their families.

“ We, however, want to call on the Federal Government and security agencies not to relent in their efforts to ensure safe release of others.‘’

Sarafadeen, however, called on the Federal Government, Security Agencies, Civil Society Organisations and the citizens to intensify efforts and prayers toward ensuring the release of the remaining Chibok school girls.

He also commended the intelligence and professionalism with which the security agencies rescued the abducted mother and sister of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Member, Mr Kassim Mohammed-Kassim by unidentified gunmen.

The secretary also called on security agencies to ensure speedy rescue of other abductees who are still in the captivity of their abductors, praying for their safe release. (NAN)
