The Sokoto State cash transfer unit has commenced the monthly payment of N5,000 to the 3,000 beneficiaries recently enrolled into the programme in the state.

The payment of the N5,000 stipend to each beneficiary began on Sunday in Rabah local government area of the state.
In a message to the event, Alhaji Sai’du Umar, Secretary to the State Government, urged the beneficiaries not to spend the money on unnecessury things.
Umar represented by the Special Adviser to Gov. Aminu Tambuwal on Social Investment, Malam Hayatu Tafida, assured of the state government’s continued support to the social investment programme.
He described the programme as laudable, saying it will go a long way in supporting the living standard of the beneficiaries.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Women Affairs, Aisha Dan-Tsoho, advised the beneficiaries to start small scale businesses to support themselves and their families.
One of the beneficiaries, who spoke to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Zaliha Shehu, commended the Federal Government for initiating the programme and said she would use the money to support herself.
