Comply with road safety rules, FRSC advises motorists

2 Min Read

Mr Sunday Ajayi, the Anambra  Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has advised motorists to comply with road safety rules during and after the “ember months”.

Ajayi made this call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Thursday.

He said that the right-to-life on the highways was not negotiable and advised motorists to apply safety tips all the time.

The FRSC chief warned that the command would prosecute any traffic offender.

He said that the command had begun the sensitisation of motorists on the need to adhere to the road safety rules while on the wheels.

Ajayi said that between January and September 2018, scores of people had been killed through road accidents while 290 persons were injured from 130 accidents as recorded by the command.

He said that the causes of these accidents ranged from one abuse of road safety tip to another and urged motorists to value their lives and stop endangering themselves.

Ajayi said that for motorist to be safe, they must keep the road safety rules, such as not using cell phone while driving as it was better to “miss a call than to miss a life”.

He also advised that motorists should not jump lane, and that the use of  one-way must be avoided as well as not drinking while driving.

Ajayi said that motorists should not overload their vehicles and they should develop the habit of wearing the seatbelt as a life saver once crash occurred.

He also advised motorists not to drive once they felt fatigue

Ajayi also urged motorists to always ensure that their driving documents are current while carrying fire extinguisher and spare tyres along.

He urged motorists to ensure that they install the speed limit device in their vehicles (NAN)
