Struggling Newscastle have reportedly lined up a move for rejuvenated Leicester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho.
Newcastle are in the market to land a proven striker before the close of January’s transfer window on Wednesday night after a 3-0 bashing by Chelsea sent them packing from the FA Cup.
Iheanacho, who is experiencing a resurgence at the Foxes, is being lined up by Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle as plan B in case a bid to land Feyenoord’s Danish striker Nicolai Jorgensen fails.
Feyenoord demanded £20 million forJorgensen, a price the Magpies are unwilling to pay.
However, Benitez has renewed interest in Iheanacho, who shunned interest from Newcastle in the summer to join Leicester City in a £25 million move.
Kelechi Iheanacho scored twice in Leicester’s 5-1 FA Cup demolition of Peterborough on Saturday, taking his strikes to four in the competition.
This is believed to be fuelling Newcastle’s interest in the forward.
