After the defeat to world number one, Naomi Osaka, teenager Coco Gauff was right back in action on Sunday and she probably won’t participate in a no other women singles event until 2020 in January at the Australian Open.
Gauff’s father, Corey, said on Saturday that his 15 year-old next action will probably be in Australia because of a “little age restriction” she faces with her age.
Age restrictions set up by the women’s professional tour limits the number of events a person who is 15 can enter and the number of wild-card invitations she can be offered.
The teenager had already accepted three wild-card invitations elsewhere before the U.S Tennis Association which run a grand-slam tournament and so is not overseen by the WTA or ATP tours
Gauff won two matches at the U.S open before crashing out to world number one, Naomi Osaka 6:3 6:0.
Gauff and 17 year-old partner Catty McNally face the ninth seed team of Nicole Melichar and Kveta Peschoke.
