A cleric, Rev. Emmanuel Alonge has urged the Federal Government to devise strategies to ameliorate effect of the recession on Nigerians.
Alonge told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Thursday.
He said that the charge became necessary to address the hike in prices of goods and services which had lowered the standard of living of Nigerians.
The cleric, who is in charge of Christ Apostolic Church, Oloje headquarters, Ilorin charged the three tiers of government to make the downtrodden their focus.
He said the governments should do that by implementing people oriented programmes and policies aimed at improving the living standard the people.
Alonge said that the country needed to turn to God for succour in these hard times, saying Nigerians must seek the face of God for the country to be great again.
He predicted better days ahead, urging Nigerians not to relent in praying for peace and tranquillity to continue to reign in the country.
He called on the judiciary to be faithful to God, saying “God almighty is a judge of all mankind”.
He urged the various governments to diversify the nation’s economy by embarking on aggressive agriculture development and give soft loans to farmers to boost farming activities in the country.
Alonge, who decried the high rate of unemployment and poverty in the land, called for judicious use of fund recovered from corrupt leaders. (NAN)
