The defendant, a clearing and forwarding agent, who resides at 4b, Atanda Akinremi St., Orile Agege, Lagos, is being tried for conspiracy, obtaining under false pretences, stealing and causing the breach of peace.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, ASP Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offences were committed on Oct. 2, 2019, at Oke Ira area, Ogba, Lagos.

Ogu alleged that the defendant obtained N885, 000 from Femi Oladimeji under false pretences of helping him to clear a Mercedes Benz car from the Apapa port.

The prosecutor also alleged that the defendant later told the complainant that the person he gave the money to, had disappeared and all efforts to see him failed.

“Hence, the complainant reported the case at the police station and the defendant was arrested,” he said.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 168, 287, 314 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
