Nigerian singer CKay has spoken out against colleagues who he says mocked him for his early Afrobeats style, only to now copy it.
On X, CKay wrote: “History can’t be rewritten… I pioneered many vibes Afrobeats artistes thrive off today… Iykyk. Y’all laughed when I came up with emo-afrobeat and was on TikTok all day, but many are now doing the same thing.”
CKay, known for his hit song “Love Nwantiti,” emphasized his role in popularizing Afrobeats on TikTok and asserted that others are now profiting from his innovative approach.
