Salisu Useini, 35 years of age has been arrested by the police in Niger State for wearing military uniform.
Northern City News revealed that the father of four had a predisposition to wearing the military uniform, moving about the community and answering “soldier man.”
Herald correspondent’s gather that that Useini, who lives at Tufa Village in the Gurara Local Government Area of the state, was followed and apprehended by men of the police Anti-kidnapping Squad attached to the Gurara Division.
Useini, who wore the uniform on a daily basis, used it to bully community members and cause trouble in the entire Gurara area.
It was gathered that the suspect had been pretending to be a soldier for the past five years in Tufa village of Gurara.
Useini stated that he was not a criminal but had a love for the military.
“I love wearing the uniform to intimidate people so as to have my way. I don’t use it to rob people; I just love wearing army uniform to move about.
“I have no regrets dressing like a soldier because this is what I like doing. If given the opportunity again, I will wear it as long as I don’t rob people with it.”
Muhammad Abubakar the Command’s Public Relations Officer, said police operatives had arrested Useini after a tip-off.
The operatives recovered an army cap, trousers, a police belt and 15 photographs of him in military uniform.
According to the police spokesman, the suspect could not give any satisfactory account of how he got the military uniform.
The police said Useini would be charged to court as soon as they conclude their investigation.
