The General Overseer, Omega Fire Ministries (OFM) International, Apostle Johnson Suleman, says the government is failing in its primary responsibility of protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.
He said that this constituted a serious violating of the preexisting social contract between the government and the citizenry.
According to Suleman, the citizenry is not obligated to respect and obey such a government.
The fiery preacher disclosed this in a tweet on Tuesday, against the backdrop of a clash between security forces and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Sunday in Enugu.
IPOB has slammed the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) for shooting and killing some of its unarmed members holding a meeting peacefully.
However, the DSS said it lost two operatives in the fracas.
Suleman’s comments also came as the nation continued to battle insurgency in the North-East, bandit attacks in the North-West and North-Central, and kidnapping for ransom in the South.
There have been calls from many quarters on President Muhammadu Buhari to change the nation’s service chiefs, a call that has yet to be heeded.
“The citizenry owes no patriotism to a brutal/clueless leadership..loyalty is only on the premise of leadership fulfilling its pre-existing social contract in which the state protects the people in exchange for their loyalty..as it stands now, there is a breach of trust,” he stated.
