The suspected mastermind of the 2011 “Christmas Day bomb attack” on a Catholic church in the Nigerian Federal Capital that killed 37 people was today (Friday) charged to court by the Nigerian authorities.
Nigerian authorities charged a man Mr. Kibiru Sokoto on Friday with masterminding the attack, it would be remembered that the Nigerian Security forces captured Mr Sokoto, the main suspect in the attack, in January 2012. He escaped a day later but was recaptured the following month.
Our correspondent said Mr Sokoto today pleaded not guilty to charges of terrorism. Justice Adeniyi Ademola adjourned trial to May 2.
Mr Sokoto would therefore be remanded in prison awaiting the start of his trial.
