The women wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN),Nasarawa State chapter, has donated food and sanitary items to Maimuna Catha Orphanage Home in Lafia.
Mrs. Lydia Attah, the chairperson of the association, who delivered the items on Thursday, said that the gesture was the association’s modest contribution to demonstrate love, care and concern to the orphans.
“We want to give the orphans a sense of belonging; we want them to feel cared for,” she said.
Attah said that Christian women had an obligation to show love, stressing that assisting the less privileged in the society was in obedience to God’s teachings.
“The donation is part of the association’s commitment to cushioning the hardship being experienced by the orphans due to the death of their parents.
“As mothers, we understand what these children are going through because it is not easy for children to grow up without the love and care of their parents.
“We know the vacuum that has been created in the lives of these children; we feel their pains because we are parents.”
She also commended the management of the orphanage for dedicating their time to caring for, and training orphans in spite of the apparent lack of support.
Mrs. Aziz John, the officer in charge of Maimuna Catha Orphanage Home, who received the items, expressed gratitude to the association and promised to deploy the gifts judciously.
Aziz called on other groups to support the orphanage in order to give the children a befitting future. (NAN)
