Chrissy Teigen has come to the defence of Meghan Markle after the latter faced criticism after revealing she had a miscarriage.
On Wednesday, the Duchess of Sussex, 39, detailed the miscarriage she suffered over the summer.
However, among the praise for her bravery and candid discussion of a topic many still consider taboo, there was also criticism.
People questioned her motive in publishing her NYT piece, with journalist Marco Giannangeli analysing the criticism in a tweet that rubbed some users the wrong way.
The Defense and Diplomatic editor at the Sunday Express wrote: “Is anyone really questioning the pain and sheer awfulness of suffering a miscarriage, or are they perhaps criticising Meghan’s decision to write a 1,000 word op-ed about herself?
“What does it add to the resources already available for those who go through a tragedy like this?”
His question struck a nerve with Chrissy Teigen, who lashed out in a retweet.
“Award for today’s absolute piece of s–t goes to Marco Giannangeli. Congratulations, piece of s–t,” she wrote in a since-deleted tweet.
Teigen then told her followers, “Sorry forgot I’m trying to be nicer lol.”
Chrissy Teigen recently opened up about her experience of losing her son, Jack, pre-term at 20 weeks.
‘I definitely give myself permission to feel complete and utter grief. Every day is so different, so when people ask me how I’m doing, I always say, “I’m okay, today”,’ Teigen told Good Morning America earlier this week.
