Two Chinese firms, Green Agriculture, West Africa Limited, and Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Science, on Wednesday said they would collaborate with the Federal Government in agricultural research and development.
Mr Wang Jun, General Manager, Green Agriculture, West Africa Limited, made this known during a visit to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development office in Minna, Niger.
“Our collaboration will go a long way in fast tracking various agricultural research and development in Nigeria,” he said.
Jun who led a delegation of the two firms said that they were currently establishing a demonstration farm in Abuja to achieve the objective.
Responding, Mr Bello Salihu, Director of the ministry in the state said that such collaboration would boost agricultural development in Nigeria.
He noted that most plants cultivated in China can also survive in Nigeria.
Salihu said that the ministry was ready to partner the two firms in the area of rice production in the state toward food security of the nation. (NAN)
